AP Top 25: Where does Ohio State football rank on Nathan Baird’s Week 13 ballot?

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football fans shouldn’t take for granted a tough road win against a bowl-able team this late in the season.

Georgia had to do the same on Saturday, holding off Kentucky 16-6 on the road. Tennessee didn’t make it and imploded with a 63-38 loss in South Carolina.

The Buckeyes didn’t play their hottest game in Maryland on Saturday. Other championship-caliber OSU teams have taken to the streets in the Big Ten in recent years and walked away with losses. It shouldn’t be overlooked that even as this team falters, it’s keeping its distance from the losses at Iowa 2017 and Purdue 2018 that essentially ruined the season.

None of this made much of an impact on my Associated Press top 25 pick. Georgia still looks like the most complete team with the best wins on their resume. Ohio State has a performance advantage over Michigan for now, but we’ll know for sure on Saturday. TCU improbably always finds a way to sneak through a tough schedule unscathed.

We didn’t get a 1v2 in The Game like we did in 2006. College football’s eyes will also be on Columbus on Saturday. This game means more this season because this OSU team, even when vulnerable, is keeping the next tier of the Big Ten at a distance.
