Columbus, Ohio – The No. 1/2 Ohio State women’s hockey team wraps up its 2022 home game schedule this week with a Top 4 match against No. 4 Colgate on November 22-23 at OSU Rink. The non-conference series between the Buckeyes (12-1-1, 12-1-1 WCHA) and the Raiders (13-1-0, 4-1-0 ECAC) is for Tuesday at 6 p.m. and Wednesday scheduled at 3:00 p.m.

Both games will be streamed on B1G+ (subscription required). Admission and parking for Ohio State women’s hockey games are free.

Horse chestnuts in a nutshell

  • In the Bemidji State fight, Sophie Jaques scored four points, bringing her career total to 130 points. She is now the Ohio State record holder for career points as a fullback. She also moves up to eighth in career points from any Buckeye.

  • Jenna Buglioni led the Buckeyes by five points against Bemidji State this weekend. She recorded a team high four assists against the Beavers.
  • Graduate Paetyn Levis is just four points out of 100 for her career. She would become the 15th player in program history to join Century Club. She scored three points against the Beavers this weekend to give herself 39 goals and 57 points for 96 career points.
  • The Ohio State Goaltender Corps. has combined for a savings percentage of 0.904. Amanda Thiele leads the group with an 8-1-0 record. She has a 0.896 percent saving and 1.89 goals compared to average. Raygan Kirk owns a 3-0-1 record, .903 save percentage and 1.72 goals against average. Quinn Kuntz rounds out the group with a 1-0-0 record and holding all 16 shots she has faced this year.
  • This week’s series against No. 4 Colgate is the third-ranked Op the Buckeyes will play this season. The team is 2-1-1 against ranked opponents this year.
  • Ohio State has opened first in 10 of its 14 games this season and is undefeated first on the board.

Series History – Buckeyes vs. Raiders

  • This week’s series between Ohio State and Colgate marks just the fifth and sixth meetings between the two programs.
  • Ohio State leads the series with a 2-1-1 record.
  • In the final encounter between the teams, Ohio State won the first game 6-2 and drew the second 1-1 in Colgate.
  • The first meeting took place in Columbus during the 2018–19 season, with the teams splitting up the series. Ohio State won the first game 4-3 while Colgate won the second 5-2.

  • Five Buckeyes played in the November games of the 2022-23 Rivalry Series between the United States and Canada, including Riley Brengman, Clair DeGeorge, Jincy Dunne, Emma Maltais and Gabby Rosenthal.
  • In her first game with the USWNT, Brengman scored her first point with an assist on the team’s first goal in the 4-3 win. Dunne added two assists for Team USA in three games, while Canada’s Emma Maltais added an assist in the first game.
  • On the other side of the world, Buckeyes Sara Saekkinen and Sofie Lundin played for their respective countries in the Five Nations Tournament.
  • Saekkinen, who provided an assist, helped Finland finish first in the tournament, which was held on home soil. Lundin recorded one goal and five assists and finished second with Team Sweden.

Next

The Buckeyes end the first half of the season with three away games. Ohio State travels to Duluth, Minnesota on December 2-3 for a rematch against Minnesota Duluth. The puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET for both games and Friday’s game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
